Stadiums Tasmania
Infrastructure Tasmania has helped to establish Stadiums Tasmania as a new authority, to become the custodian of Tasmania’s major stadiums.
Stadiums Tasmania will create a linked network of major public stadiums across the state, centralising ownership, management and future development of the venues.
This approach aligns Tasmania with other states, where national-standard stadiums are managed by government. It will ensure our stadiums continue to operate effectively and efficiently, and meet the future needs of our sporting codes and competitions, users and audiences.
Frequently asked questions
Why establish Stadiums Tasmania?
The Tasmanian Government announced plans to establish Stadiums Tasmania in April 2021, as a new statutory entity to oversee the management and development of Tasmania’s major public stadium assets and infrastructure.
The aim is to better coordinate the use, management and development of stadiums and Tasmania’s engagement in national and international sport, entertainment and community events. The authority will also target investment and the development of these assets to grow the local economies that benefit from the events they host.
The authority commenced operations in February 2023, and is meeting with stadium owners and key stakeholders to manage the transfer of major stadiums to the authority.
