Information and data are critical to effective freight planning, management and investment. The Tasmanian Government collects a range of freight-related information to better understand the use and operation of Tasmania’s freight system, including networks, individual modes and commodity supply chains.

Analysis on the Bass Strait container market was undertaken as part of developing the Tasmanian Integrated Freight Strategy. The analysis examines long-term container demand and capacity under a range of scenarios.
